Detailed product description
You will meet your English-speaking tour guide at the agreed meeting point and head to today’s shore excursion, south coast of Iceland. You can look forward to a trip full of incomparable nature.
If you want to see the real Iceland, the south coast of the island is just the place for you. After a beautiful landscape tour filled with lots of exciting information you will then make a stop to see two fascinating waterfalls: Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss.
The Seljalandsfoss waterfall will truly inspire you, as it is one of the few waterfalls in the world in which you can comfortably walk behind. But beware, you will most definitely get wet here.
Just as impressive is the 25-meter wide Skógafoss waterfall, which has a drop height of 60 meters. The effervescent spray usually creates a wonderful permanent rainbow in good weather – a unique sight!
Take a look at the famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano from a safe distance – the outbreak of which caused enormous disruption to air travel in the summer of 2010 due to its ash clouds.
After you will drive to the beautiful black sandy beach of Reynisfjara. Here you will be able to observe the sweet puffins in addition to the black sandy beach and with a little luck the basaltic stone column.
After all those nice impressions on the coast, we will then continue to the glacier Sólheimajökull, which you can get close to after a short walk and feel like you’re in a “Tolkien movie”. The energy and power of the glacier, which belongs to Myrdalsjökull, the fourth largest glacier in Iceland, is hard to miss.
On the way back, you can let the gigantic landscape replay in your mind before returning to Reykjavik.
We wish you a great shore excursion to the south coast of Iceland!
