Detailed tour description
Your tour guide will welcome you at the agreed meeting point and your shore excursion in Montego Bay can begin.
You will leave Montego Bay and drive to your first destination of the day, the Greenwood Great House. Here you will have a wonderful view of the city, the harbour and the sea while you drive along the coast. The Greenwood Great House is one of Jamaica’s most beautiful mansions and was built over 200 years ago by the Barrett family, including the famous poet Elizabeth Barrett-Browning. The family was very rich and owned a lot of land. Unlike the many other lands, the family treated its over 2,000 slaves well, which is why the estate was spared from the slave revolt in 1831. During your visit you will learn a lot about the history of the mansion and the many antiques that marvel at the estate. These include, for example, an impressive historical collection of books, rare musical instruments, porcelain and typical tools of the plantation. After this little journey through time, a refreshing drink will be served at the end to complete your visit.
You will then drive back to Montego Bay and get to know the highlights of the city on a short sightseeing tour. Afterwards you will have time for some shopping. Stroll along the bustling Hip Strip shopping street, where you will find many shops, local bars and restaurants. If you’d like, your guide will gladly take you to a local craft market, where you can admire the local artwork.
After that, it’s time to return to your ship.
