Your guide will be waiting for you at the agreed meeting point and off you go on your excursion on Spitsbergen. Today you have the opportunity to get close to the cute huskies.
Together with your guide, you‘ll drive to Trappers Station, which is approx. 10 minutes away and is picturesquely located at the foot of the Breinosa mountain. Here you will be kindly greeted by about 90 excited Alaskan huskies looking forward to going wild with you.
The dogs need just as much love, attention and movement in the summer just as in winter and are therefore happy to be able to pull sledges even in summer. Instead of being pulled like the traditional way behind a wooden sled on skids, summer sledges were built on wheels, making an equally happy and exciting experience possible. No prior knowledge required, just bring your instincts with you!
In this exciting atmosphere you will get a brief introduction to the handling of the dogs and then help to tension them on the car.
Two persons will fit on a summer dog sled. While one person steers, the other person can relax and enjoy the beautiful diverse summer landscape of the Arctic. Look forward to seeing various species of birds and reindeers in their natural habitat and also various native plants.
After the tour you will help the guide to pull the dogs off the car and bring them back to the farm. Afterwards, there are hot drinks and cookies for you to relax in a traditional trapper’s hut or out in the open air when the weather permits.
You will then be taken back to the cruise ship by your guide.
We wish you an exciting shore excursion to Spitsbergen!
